What makes a website SEO FRIENDLY?

What makes a website SEO FRIENDLY? http://www.seoacademy.net/ Transcription: Hi and welcome. My name is Harald Tschuggnall, and today I want to talk about the question, "What makes a website SEO friendly?" There are some things that you should know to make sure that Google can crawl a website and you going to get found and ranked well. The first step would really be that your website it crawlable so that Google can crawl your website and then, in the next step, index your website. The crawling part would just be that these crawlers from Google, these are small software programs that go out and find your content, download your content. The next step is to index it. Google will then store it in their database, basically, and this is called indexing. Here it is very important to make sure that you're not blocking any pages or sub-pages using the robots.txt file or, also a mistake that happens quite often is that your sub-pages have no-index tag. What that means for Google is they come to see your website, they come to see your sub-pages, but they find there no-index tag on your website. The no-index tag basically tells Google or every search engine basically, that they shouldn't index it. They will come out and find it, but they are not allowed to store it. If they're not allowed to store it, of course nobody will find you because you have no entries in the database. This is a problem. The other way is that you're blocking robots using the robots.txt file. I'm quite sure you have a robots.txt file. If you're not sure, go to your domain dot whatever, .com, and then /robots.txt and this is the regular path where the robots.txt file must be stored. If you don't see any results there then probably you don't have a robots.txt file. It's not necessary to have one, but actually if a robot comes to your website, what they do is they will first of all check what is written or what is inside this robots.txt file, because in there you have the opportunity, possibility to tell Google, "Okay, I don't want you to go into this folder and index or crawl the content there." Or, "I don't want you to," I don't know, "look at my images. I don't want you to index or see pages that have certain parameters," or stuff like that. You can do that. Make sure you're not blocking Google for important pages. If you have the search console then you can go into search console and use the robots.txt testing tool to find out if you're blocking something that is important. You can put in your URL and you will see is it blocked or not. This is very important. First of all, make sure Google is able to find, to crawl, and to store your data, so your websites, your sub-pages. This is the first step of course, otherwise nobody can find you. The next step is, I would say, to make it very clear. If you want to rank for certain keyword, always recommend making landing page for that and then optimize the landing page for that keyword. That starts by having a nice URL, having a nice title, having a nice headline. Having high quality content, of course, that gives the user everything the user was looking for. It's a lot about user intent. Google really value that really high. Google knows in a lot of industries what users want if they type in a certain keyword. If they are looking for certain information’s, they need a certain piece of content. If they want to buy something, then you can show them something else. Google knows that already. It's very important for you to show them the right kind of content. The second part would be to have great content, of course. Have great titles. Have great descriptions. This is also a conversion factor. Just imagine the people who are searching for that stuff are checking out the search engine result pages and they, of course, will see your title. They will see your Meta descriptions. You need to write your titles and Meta descriptions very well so they are very likely to click on it. This is the chance to get the people to click on that result, and then they will come to your website. Then they should see great content, of course.
